Fat (definition): one of the three main classes of foods and a source of energy in the body.  Fats help the body use some vitamins and keep the skin healthy.  They also serve as energy stores for the body.  In food, there are two types of fats, saturated and unsaturated (NASM, 2008).

Fat (function): serve as an energy source and facilitate the use of vitamins by the body. They also provide satiety and warmth for the body (NASM, 2008).

Conquering Your Resistance To Change!

Part of the process of improving the way you look and feel should always begin with identifying the obstacles that you will have to overcome. These obstabcle might be internal (within you) or experternal (outside of you). In the video above Mark Russo, MBA  and owner of Quest Martial Arts refers to these obstacles as gatekeepers, and discusses examples of a gatekeeper and how they work to deter you from achieving your goal, fitess or otherwise.

Fat! The Final Macronutrient!

If Fat Is A Macronutrient, Then We Must Need It…

Getting Comfortable With FAT!

Fat is a Macronutrient, so by definition this means we need a certain percentage of our diet to consist of Fat!  So that you can better understand this statement let me provide two definitions, Nutrient and Macronutrient:

Nutrient (definition) -a chemical that an organism needs to live and grow or a substance used in an organism’s metabolism which must be taken in from its environment.  Nutrients are the substances that enrich the body (Wikipedia, 2010).

Macronutrient (definition) -Nutrients needed in large quantities (Wikipedia, 2010).

So if Fat is a nutrient that our body needs in large quantities in order to exist and operate efficiently why is it so demonized in our society.  The reasoning for this occurrence is that just like many natural available substances, we have chosen to overindulge in the worst types of FAT.  In the video above and in my Facebook Fan Page article “Simple Science – The Truth About Fats“ I have provided you with enough information to get you eating the right type of Fats in the proper quantity.

I hope you enjoy the video above and my Facebook Fan Page Article:
